We had two groups of high school students in and made several dozen solid body electric guitars. The participants really liked the results - turns out that manufacturing might be fun and interesting after all.

We're already planning the events for next summer. When we get hard information, it will be on the lab we b site at www.metalsound.org

I loved "Manufacturing is cool" website and I forwarded your e-mail to my students, colleagues, friends, and children... Also, I like this website and I am going to invite my students and my colleagues from LTU and Ford Motor Company... Keep up the good work!

Also, check out www.careerme.org.

A new Web site has been developed to excite high school and college students about the lucrative career opportunities in advanced manufacturing and soon help potential employers find where the next generation of manufacturing engineering talent is coming from: www.careerME.org.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Foundation (SME- EF) and the National Center for Manufacturing Education (NCME) have partnered to design the site, which will serve to improve the image of the industry, especially during this economic downturn when news about manufacturing in the United States is less than stellar.

For information on how to bring this site to your area, contact me at baslin@sme.org

Please check out the recently updated website: www.manufacturingiscool.com

The site was developed by the SME Education Foundation. It is geared toward middle and high school students. We are constantly improving and updating this site so as to make it a fun, interactive place for students to learn about careers in manufacturing. Please introduce this site to your children and grandchildren and send my your feedback and suggestions. baslin@sme.org
